INTRO.

wheeee!

This is me.  I live in LA.  I like a serif font.

The Frankenstein House (not my truck)

I just bought this house.  I call it the Frankenstein house, for a couple of reasons.  First, obviously, it's green.  Frankenstein was green, right?  But more than that, this house is a cobbled-together hodgepodge of old parts and new fixes.   The kitchen is pure 1950s; the central AC was installed in 2009.  The hallways are 1920s narrow; the roof is 2 weeks old.  The house was originally built before 1910, enlarged in the 40s, and subjected to a whole lot of DIY over the next 70 years.  Like Frankenstein, this house is the result of much experimentation and tinkering.

Taken as a whole, it's something of a lumbering, imperfect, moaning monster melange.  Odd motley patched-togetherness, yearning for real personhood.   But-- charming, in its way!  Charming, for example, in this way:

However, there's a lot of work to do on the Frankenstein House.  The backyard, for example, is currently filled with weeds.  Not just weeds, but WEEEEEEEEEEEDS.  Weeds in your FACE.  Aggressive weeds.  Weeds as tall as I am and taller, and weeds that make lovely homes for bugs of all kinds.  Bugs like this:

well hello there

What is this?  It eats dead plants.  I've killed 3 of them in the house.  Other bug issues at the Frankenstein House include: Argentinian ants, garden spiders, and Cockroach.  One, singular, large cockroach.  Bob.  I will kill Bob if it is the last thing I do.   I will kill all the bugs. I cannot live with bugs.

Like I said, there's a lot of work to do on the Frankenstein House.   This blog will be where I think through all the things to be done, because for better or worse, I tend to process things in life with my fingers.  There's enough work to be done that I imagine I'll have lots of this processing to do for the forseeable future.  Hopefully anyone who reads will enjoy coming along for the ride!
